1) I managed to upload a userpic--go me! This is the same one I had on LJ, and I like it for the most part, but I'm not sure why I went for the "random squiggles" background. Oh well. Still, it mostly looks like me, except that it doesn't include the freckles and it didn't have a "big-girl" option--my face is a lot fuller than that. The glasses are perfect, though!
2) I got an interview!!!! I've been sending resumes out all summer, and I finally got a call-back today. Go me! My interview is on Monday, and they want me to present a mini-lesson at the same time. I'm not sure what to do about that yet--I've never taught developmental classes before, and I want to make a lesson that's accessible, but doesn't sound like I'm talking down to grown adults. And one that's only 5 minutes long. So, yeah, I don't know how that's going to go. But still--interview!
3) I also got an email from a girl looking for a writing tutor. I just put an ad on a site called UniversityTutors.com a few days ago, so I wasn't expecting a response so quickly. Hopefully, I'll be able to meet with her next week. I'm not sure what she's working on or what kind of help she needs yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Plus, money--I need it.
So, basically, this is a "Go, me!" post--after the long, dry, frustrating summer, things are looking up. (Knock on wood!) This seems like the appropriate moment to go looking for some communities to join here on DW, so that will be my plan tonight.
